How to Approve Google Adsense in 2023 (Video)

Google AdSense is a program run by Google that allows publishers in the Google Network of content sites to serve automatic text, image, video, or interactive media advertisements, which are targeted to site content and audience. These advertisements are administered, sorted, and maintained by Google, and they can generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis.

The creation and implementation of Google AdSense marked a significant change in digital advertising. Before its advent, advertisers had to directly negotiate ad prices and placements with individual websites. Google AdSense, however, streamlined the process, opening up online advertising to a broader audience.

How Google AdSense Works

The basis of Google AdSense’s operation lies in its sophisticated algorithms. These algorithms use details such as keywords, website content, and even the user’s browsing history to determine which advertisements are the most relevant and are most likely to engage the user. By showing ads relevant to the content or users, Google AdSense increases the probability of interaction (clicks), thereby creating revenue for the site owner and for Google itself.

For website owners, using Google AdSense is relatively straightforward. They need to sign up for the program, after which they can begin placing ad spaces on their websites. Google then populates these spaces with ads from their extensive database of advertisers.

Revenue Generation

Google AdSense generates revenue in two ways: cost-per-click (CPC) and cost-per-thousand-impressions (CPM). With CPC, revenue is earned each time a user clicks on an ad. The amount earned per click varies based on a variety of factors, including the ad’s content and the location of the user. With CPM, revenue is earned based on the number of people who view the ad, with payment typically made per thousand impressions.

Google AdSense Policies

Google has implemented strict policies for AdSense to maintain a healthy, functioning ecosystem that benefits advertisers, publishers, and users. These policies prohibit any manipulative practices that could inflate ad interactions. For instance, publishers are not allowed to click on their ads or use any means to manipulate the number of impressions artificially. Violations can lead to the publisher being banned from the AdSense program.

Here are the Google official docs of those policies:

Benefits of Google AdSense

Google AdSense provides several benefits to website owners. It offers an additional stream of income with relatively minimal effort beyond the initial setup. Additionally, it provides access to a broad base of advertisers, making it easier for website owners to find ads that align with their content.

On the downside, the income from AdSense can be unpredictable and may not be substantial unless the site has significant traffic. It’s also worth noting that Google has control over which ads appear on the website, which might not always align with the publisher’s preferences.
